Going Where We Are Needed Most (XX): Demonstrating Responsibility in Tough Battle, Embarking on a New Journey!--SIG's Anti-epidemic Volunteer Team Holds Online Review Meeting

The CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government held a work meeting on coordinating epidemic control with economic and social development on May 30. Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping at its core, Shanghai made unremitting efforts to achieve significant staged results in defending against the virus, said Li Qiang, Secretary of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee. Meanwhile, SIG's anti-epidemic volunteer team that worked around the clock in the frontline for more than 40 days has accomplished its mission under the arrangement of the Organization Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee. SIG's leading body sent a greeting message at the earliest possible time, expressing heartfelt thanks to them for their remarkable contributions to Shanghai's epidemic control over the past month. On the night of May 30, Wu Jun, Vice Secretary of the CPC SIG Committee, hosted an online review meeting for the volunteer team, with the participation of all its members and the relevant staff of the Department of Administration of SIG.

On behalf of SIG's leading body, Wu extended heartfelt thanks and sincere respects to all the volunteers of SIG and their families: On April 15, facing the most severe and complex epidemic situation ever, you took on special responsibilities, responded to the call of the Organization Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, the CPC Committee of the Shanghai Municipal State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SHSASAC), as well as the CPC SIG Committee, and went where you were needed most on behalf of SIG, to contribute the power of SIG to the overall epidemic prevention and control of Shanghai. Over the past month, you have worked around the clock in the epidemic control of sub-districts and communities, taking care of numberless households, appeasing residents' emotions and caring for special groups. Many of you took active part in high-risk work such as transferring positive-tested residents and getting prescriptions filled for residents, and many faced the harsh conditions and complex situation of old communities and villages in cities, but you withstood the test of the extreme conditions to fulfill arduous and heavy tasks. You integrated yourselves into the grass-roots level both physically and mentally, thought actively and acted proactively in community governance and grass-roots Party building, and fully leveraged your professional advantages and experience to help sub-districts and communities effectively address problems and improve working results, giving full play to your core and backbone role as grass-roots volunteers. Now significant results have been achieved in the battle for the defense of Shanghai. Behind the results are the persistent and painstaking efforts of all the volunteers of SIG, as well as Shanghai's medical staff, community workers and volunteers. Well done, we are proud of you.

The volunteers expressed their gratitude for the care and greetings from SIG's leaders, and exchanged their experience from frontline work. Over the past month, in the tough battle and test of epidemic prevention and control, SIG's volunteers have endured hardships, fought hard, raced against the epidemic and combated the virus, demonstrating the greatest splendor of SIG's volunteers in the frontline against the epidemic.

Chen Zhenpeng, Member of the CPC SIG Committee, Director of the Organization Department and leader of the anti-epidemic volunteer team, took on his responsibility as a Party member, leader and executive, spared no efforts to serve more than 3,000 residents, and led all the frontline volunteers of SIG in working around the clock. Facing the harsh conditions and complex situation of a village in city, Wu Shumin, Vice Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai State-Owned Assets Management Co., Ltd. (SSAM), played his role as a "screw", working with officials of the village committee to effectively solve villagers' practical difficulties. Zhao Cheng, Vice Secretary of the CPC Committee of SIG Asset Management Co., Ltd. (SIGAM), went to the hardest place in the sub-district, working against the clock to comfort and help the company's needy staff while working on epidemic control. As the secretary of a temporary Party organization in the frontline against the epidemic, He Lei, Assistant to Director of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Office of SIG, brought together dozens of Party member volunteers in a dozen communities, to build a strong fortress. Facing the difficulties and problems arising in grass-roots epidemic control, Mao Yadong from GP Capital, also the secretary of a temporary Party organization, explored ways to fight the epidemic for communities by strengthening Party building, improving institutional construction and pooling efforts for epidemic prevention and control. Liu Bin, Vice General Manager of the Department of Investment Management II of SIG, worked rigorously, kept improving and delving into volunteer services, and sharpened service skills in epidemic prevention. Wang Jianbao, Assistant to General Manager of SIGAM, as well as Chen Bin and Xuan Jie also from SIGAM, made unremitting efforts on investment research while working on epidemic control, to well coordinate volunteer services with business work. Wang Ke from Shanghai SITICO Assets Management Co., Ltd. leveraged his professional advantage in pharmacy, to get prescription filled for residents. Based on his experience in Party work, Lu Wenqi from SIGAM planned radio programs for the convenience of an ageing community. Zhang Cheng, a member of SIG's "Elite Plan" and from the Department of Investment Management I of SIG; and Wu Hongyi from SSAM leveraged their strengths in community volunteer services, to contribute their wisdom and efforts to epidemic control. With his original aspiration and mission in mind, Cui Xinyu, an activist of Party membership from SSAM, devoted himself to frontline epidemic control in alignment with Party members. Tang Anjie from SIGAM applied for Party membership in the frontline against the epidemic to come close to Party organizations. Formerly a volunteer in Hubei's fight against the epidemic in 2020, Deng Liexin from Guoxin Venture Capital embarked on a new journey to serve community residents wholeheartedly. As the youngest volunteer, Chen Sheng from Sofitel Shanghai Hyland charged ahead for toilsome work while serving hotel guests and community residents, demonstrating his strong sense of responsibility.

Wu extended his heartfelt thanks to volunteers for their painstaking efforts and outstanding performance, inquiring about their recent situation of quarantine and rest, asked them to take care of themselves and spend more time with families, and hoped that they would summarize their experience as volunteers over the past month and apply the good style and valuable experience they had learned in epidemic control in future work. Wu stressed that Shanghai was in a crucial period of accelerating economic recovery. Secretary Li Qiang noted at the work meeting on coordinating epidemic control with economic and social development that we should "embark on a new journey" and "make up for lost time and losses caused by the epidemic". He hoped that after returning to work, they would continue to forge ahead, find hard and work tirelessly, give further play to their exemplary role, help SIG coordinate epidemic control with work resumption and go all out for the second half of the battle against the epidemic.

The volunteers said they were honored to head for the frontline against the epidemic and accomplish their service mission. The frontline volunteer service over the past month is not only a rare life experience, but also a precious opportunity for learning and growth. Facing the severe and complex epidemic situation, as well as the urgent, tough, dangerous and arduous tasks of epidemic prevention and control, they were in trouble, sad and helpless, but accumulated practical experience in overcoming hardships, sharpened their working skills and forged strong friendship in the battle against the epidemic. At the crucial moment when Shanghai is fully restoring normal production and life, and striving for a "dual victory" in epidemic control and economic and social development, with the ardent entrustment and expectations of SIG's leaders in mind, they will embark on a new journey, continue to forge ahead bravely, race against time and go all out for work resumption, thus making their due contributions to SIG's efforts in coordinating epidemic control with business development and fulfilling its annual targets!
