On the afternoon of July 6, 2022, Shanghai Sci-tech Capital (SSC) and the Shanghai Equity Exchange (SEE) jointly held an online closed-door symposium under the theme of "Secondary Fund Allocation from the Perspective of Global Assets Management". Zhou Lei, Vice President of SIG and Chairman of SSC; and Xu Jun, Vice General Manager of SEE attended and addressed the symposium. The symposium discussed the development of Shanghai PE/VC Share Transfer Platform, as well as the development patterns, leading practices, business changes and future trends of the global and Chinese secondary fund markets, with the participation of more than 150 investors and professionals from top institutions including national FoFs, renowned domestic and overseas market-oriented FoFs, local guidance funds, financial institutions like insurance companies, securities brokers and banks, local state-owned enterprises and industrial groups, as well as leaders of regulators and competent industrial authorities like the Shanghai Municipal Financial Regulatory Bureau.
Chen Yanyan, Vice General Manager of SEE, introduced the service system and operation of Shanghai PE/VC Share Transfer Platform, with emphasis on the background of platform construction, policies, service objects, transfer modes, information disclosure and other essentials. Su Weizhou, Partner of Hawking Capital and Director for Asia Pacific; Yang Zhan, General Manager of Coller (Beijing) Private Fund Management Company Limited; Yao Binchao, Head of Ardian Greater China; and Xiu Zhiming, Managing Director of TR Capital made presentations entitled "History, Current Situation and Future Trend of Secondary Funds", "Opportunities and Challenges for the Chinese Secondary Fund Market", "Allocation Strategies and Transaction Models of Secondary Funds" and "Valuation and Pricing of Secondary Fund Shares" respectively.
After nearly four hours of sharing and interactions, the attendees systematically learned about the development patterns, leading practices, business changes and future trends of the global and Chinese secondary fund markets, acquiring a deeper knowledge of professional issues easy to understand and hard to practice such as the valuation and pricing of secondary fund shares.
The development of the secondary fund market and the cultivation of the secondary fund ecosystem call for the concerted efforts of all market players. Together with members of the Shanghai Secondary Fund Alliance (under preparation), SSC will strive to be a professional and standardized market player, a proactive and pragmatic policy advise and a future-oriented leading innovator, and further build consensuses and pool strengths through continuous and in-depth interactions, so as to contribute to the development of the PE fund share transfer market.
